What Are Pictos?
Pictos are collectible items scattered throughout the world of Expedition 33. You can find them through exploration or purchase them from Gestral Merchants during your journey.
If you find or buy a higher-level version of a Picto you already own, it automatically upgrades your existing copy. This means:
You only ever own one version of each Picto
Higher-level Pictos overwrite lower-level ones
Upgrades increase both stat bonuses and effectiveness

How Pictos Work
Each Picto has two key components:
1. Sub-Stat Bonuses
A Picto enhances up to two sub-stats, including:
Health
Attack Power
Speed
Defense
Critical Rate
Higher-level Pictos grant significantly stronger stat bonuses. In the mid to late game, these bonuses often outperform what you gain from Attribute point allocation alone.
2. Unique Passive Effects
Every Picto comes with a unique passive ability, many of which are build-defining. These passives can:
Increase damage output
Improve action economy
Enable solo or niche builds
Dramatically alter combat flow
Equipping Pictos
Each character can equip up to 3 Pictos
No two characters can equip the same Picto
Pictos are exclusive while equipped
After equipping a Picto and winning 4 battles with that character in the active party, you permanently unlock that Picto’s passive effect as a Lumina.

What Is Lumina?
Lumina are unlocked passive effects derived from Pictos.
Once unlocked:
Luminas can be activated independently of the original Picto
Multiple characters can use the same Lumina
Lumina effects do not provide stat bonuses — only the passive effect
⚠️ Important:
A Lumina cannot be activated on a character if that character currently has the corresponding Picto equipped.
Using Lumina Points
Each Lumina effect requires Lumina Points to activate.
How to Get Lumina Points
Characters gain 1 Lumina Point per level
Additional Lumina Points can be unlocked using Colour of Lumina
Colour of Lumina
After unlocking The Curator (by exiting the manor and interacting with him at camp), you can use this material to increase a character’s Lumina Point cap.
Colours of Lumina are obtained by:
Exploring the world
Winning battles
Completing encounters and objectives
Pro Tip
Sort Luminas by type and mark your favorites. This makes it much easier to manage Lumina loadouts across multiple characters.
