Destiny 2: Your Friendly Power Level Guide to 450
Welcome, Guardian!
The Edge of Fate expansion introduces a streamlined Power system that makes progression clearer than ever. Whether you’re returning or continuing your journey, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know to reach 450 Power at your own pace.

Understanding Power Level
What Power Means
Your Power level affects three key things:
Damage Output – How much damage you deal
Damage Resistance – How much damage you can take
Loot Quality – The level of rewards you receive
The higher your Power, the stronger and more efficient your Guardian becomes. Activities with higher recommended Power naturally reward better gear — fueling your ongoing progression.
How Power Increases
Simple rule: equip higher-Power gear as you earn it.
All loot helps raise your Power up to the Hard Cap (200). Beyond that, you’ll push toward 450 Power through Seasonal Bonus Power gained from Portal activities.
Good news: Power progression is account-wide — your highest Power across all characters determines future drops. Level one character, and your alts benefit too!
The Edge of Fate Power Bands
| Power Tier | Cap | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Hard Cap | 200 Power | Reached through campaign, activities, and world drops |
| Seasonal Bonus Power | 450 Power | Earned through A-rank Portal activities |
| Future Expansion – Ash & Iron | 500 Power | Coming September |
Reaching 450 represents endgame mastery — a symbol of experience, consistency, and skill.
Power Sources & Activities
World Drops (Up to 200 Power)
Anything you earn while playing contributes to your base Power. Just play naturally — you’ll climb fast.
Hard Cap Activities (Up to 200 Power)
| Activity | Description | Power Boost |
|---|---|---|
| Legendary Campaign | Complete Edge of Fate encounters | +5–10 |
| Decrypted Engrams | Vendor or drop rewards | Up to +5 |
| Solo Ops | Lost Sectors, solo missions (A rank) | Up to +5 |

Pro Tip: The Legendary Campaign is the fastest path to 200. Completing it on two characters easily hits the cap.

Seasonal Bonus Power (200–450 Power)
Once you reach 200, your next goal is Seasonal Bonus Power.
Focus on Portal activities and maintain A-rank completions to maximize gains.
| Activity | Requirement | Power Boost |
|---|---|---|
| Solo Ops | A rank | Up to +4 |
| Fireteam Ops | B+ rank | Up to +4 |
| Pinnacle Ops | A rank | Up to +4 |
| Crucible | A rank | Up to +4 |

Strategy: Play activities near your current Power level for the most efficient boosts.

Power Leveling Strategy
1. Hit 200 Power (Fast Track)
Complete the Edge of Fate Legendary Campaign
+5–10 Power per encounter
Rewards scale generously per completion
Great balance of challenge and efficiency
No expansion? Grind Solo Ops with consistent A ranks to reach the cap comfortably.
2. Push from 200 → 450 Power
Here’s your ideal flow:
200–300:
Focus on Solo Ops like Caldera or K1 Logistics — quick and reliable.
300–400:
Mix in Pinnacle Ops such as Encore or Kell’s Fall.
Use activity modifiers that improve clear speed or survivability.
400–450:
Chase Prime Engrams (T5 gear) — ~5% drop rate from Portal activities.
Every completion has a chance to yield meaningful Power increases.
Understanding Power Delta & Difficulty
Each Portal difficulty defines your effective performance:
Stay where you can consistently earn A ranks.
Increase difficulty only when you’re capped for your current tier.
Balance challenge and efficiency — steady progress beats burnout.
Prime Engrams (400+ Power)
Your best source of late-game gains.
Drop from any Portal activity completion
Contain T5 gear with notable Power increases
Key for pushing the final 50 points toward 450
